Commonly known as Wonder Pole beans, the Kentucky Blue Pole bean is a great bean to have in any garden! Long growing season and delicious flavor with high yield make this a garden favorite. These beans need light, but even, watering. Keep soil moist through germination but afterwards do not over saturated the soil or leaves. As with most plants, wet leaves or roots may cause rot which can spread, if you notice this, be sure to remove it quickly. You can begin harvesting beans when they are about 3-5 inches long, after roughly 7-10 weeks. Pick when beans are mature and flowering to ensure a steady supply of beans! Letting the plant mature for too long could slow production. Fully mature pods are about 7” in length and will snap in half neatly down the length of the pod. Kentucky Pole Beans maybe enjoyed fresh with dinner or frozen for easy long term storage!
